Did you know that milk and cheese can help fortify the surface of your teeth? According to an article by Huffington Post, foods rich in calcium fortify your bones and also help your teeth to be healthy and strong.

Milk: While it is true that milk contains sugar, the sugar type is lactose which is the least damaging to teeth. Dr. Phillips, a found member of the nonprofit American Academy for Oral Systemic Health has said, "In addition, Phillips says, studies have shown that when cavity-causing foods are eaten along with milk (cookies, anyone?), the milk can actually help protect teeth from damage."

Cheese. "Cheese has similar properties to milk and makes the mouth nonacidic and raises calcium levels around teeth, which is very protective," explains Phillips. "Studies with Dutch Edam cheese showed that children ages 7 to 9 who ate a 5-gram cube after breakfast each day for two years had significantly fewer cavities than other children."

If you are not able to consume dairy products, talk to Dr. Clark about recommendations for the kinds of toothpaste that can help remineralize and fortify your teeth. Healthy food choices are a great way to keep your teeth clean and strong!
